At Excel Public Charter School, we believe in the power of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to better the life and boost the success of every child.  Excel’s String Orchestra program (ESO) is committed to ensuring that every Excel student benefits from daily strings education.  Through ESO, we strive to educate the whole child.  Through music, we are not only teaching musicality and technical skills, but academic stamina, accountability, and teamwork, and building a community of competent leaders of tomorrow.

To Excel Students and Families:

We are so excited to see you in August for our first day of orchestra!  Unless you are already taking lessons on violin, viola, cello, or bass, please WAIT to obtain an instrument until your student receives instructions and guidance in the first week of school.  Meanwhile, if you have not yet filled out the orchestra student survey, please complete the online version at your earliest convenience to help Mrs. Camp plan for the upcoming school year.

Excel String Orchestra Boosters (ESOB)

The Excel String Orchestra Boosters is a vital partner in providing an excellent music education to Excel students.  The booster group, made up of parents and guardians of orchestra students, will manage additional funding for ESOB Council-approved supplemental music education opportunities such as bringing in expert clinicians, taking students to music festivals and conferences, and providing financial support for students to participate in solo and ensemble opportunities through organizations like the Washington Music Educators Association.  As 2015-2016 will be Excel Public Charter School’s first year, we are in dire need of parents willing to serve on the ESOB Council and others to volunteer for Council Activities.  In addition, Mrs. Camp is looking for an “Orchestra Mom/Dad/Grandparent/etc.” to serve as a liaison for each grade level (6th and 7th grade) orchestra.

If you have any interest in participating in Excel String Orchestra Booster activities or in becoming this year’s “Orchestra Mom/Dad/Grandparent/etc.” for your child’s grade level, please contact Mrs. Camp as soon as possible at

Check out the first week of Mrs. Camp’s Orchestra class!
