Excel Public Charter School’s Meal Charge Policy
Student’s hunger has negative implications for their learning during school. Our goal is that every student is in school and ready to learn. Regardless of a student’s lunch status or the balance in their account, students reserve the right to receive a nutritionally balanced meal per federal National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program guidelines. Students will not be denied meal service at Excel Public Charter School for any reason.
Families at Excel Public Charter School can pay for their school meals the following ways: cash, check (payable to Excel Public Charter School), or via credit card online at www.mymealtime.com . Cash and check may be submitted during the meal service line, or at the front desk or admin office at any time in the school day.
Excel Public Charter School sends home printed meal balance statements at the end of every week, as well as during quarterly report card conferences. If payment is not immediately received, families are contacted personally to set up payment plans and discuss payment options. If payment is not received by the end of the academic school year, families may not collect their scholar’s final report card until the balance has been paid off or a payment plan has been established.
Families are notified of the charge policy at the beginning of each school year during the schoolwide orientation, through printed notifications, automated calls, and emails, as well as in person when families fill out a Free and Reduced Meal application.
